How long do GLP-1 medications stay in your system?
A medication's half-life is how long it takes for the amount in your body to fall by half. Weekly medications have long half-lives, so they build up over a few weeks and take several weeks to clear after the last dose. Daily medications clear faster.
| Medication | Ingredient | Taken | Half-life (FDA label) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ozempic, Wegovy | semaglutide injection | Weekly | About 1 week |
| Ozempic Pill, Wegovy Pill, Rybelsus | semaglutide tablet | Daily | About 1 week |
| Mounjaro | tirzepatide | Weekly | About 5 days |
| Zepbound | tirzepatide | Weekly | About 5 to 6 days |
| Trulicity | dulaglutide | Weekly | About 5 days |
| Foundayo | orforglipron | Daily | About 29 to 49 hours |
| Saxenda, Victoza | liraglutide | Daily | About 13 hours |
Values from each product's FDA prescribing information, section 12.3 (Pharmacokinetics), reviewed October 29, 2026. Individual results vary.
What this means day to day
Half-life helps explain why a weekly dose keeps working all week and why effects can linger after stopping. It does not tell you when to take, skip or change a dose. If you miss a dose or want to stop, follow your product label and ask your prescriber or pharmacist.
